Calm it down, Calm it down!

My daughter could or could not be in labor. I have been in a holding pattern since 8 AM this morning. My sons are telling me to calm down! lol…I guess I am getting a little freaked. The problem is not that we are new to birthing babies but more about the fact that I have a 2.5 hour drive ahead of me to get to the hospital she is in and I am just waiting for the “come on out” call from them. She is there now getting monitored for what might be early labor. She is just about 35 weeks and is a bit nervous about them coming early. Although they have been measuring 2 weeks ahead of normal sizes she still wants them to be fully developed. We all do.

I was present and the coach for the birth of two of my three grandchildren. It’s an experience to not miss if you have the chance. I am honored that my girls want me there, not all moms are wanted at the births of their grandchildren. It’s a priviledge to watch them come into the world and begin their new adventure. They are messy and noisy but sweet all the same. I love the smell of a freshly clean new baby. And this time we get two for the price of one! Woohoo!!!

So even if it’s not today, it will be sometime very soon. I don’t know whether to pack or not. To load up the gas tank or not. To buy snacks and make ahead meals for my men or not. I just want to drive out there and get this over with. I am not good at the unexpected and babies are the most unpredictable of them all! They never come out when our timing is good but they come out when they are good and ready.

Here are some pictures of me and my husband holding our grandchildren as newborns. This is Elizabeth, who is now 3.

Again, here we are with newborn Asher who is now 2.

And here is my husband with newborn Isaiah who is now about 20 months old.

Pretty soon I will have another photo to add. Me holding Davy and Daniel.

  1. Oh my goodness – the are all so SWEET! And that HAIR! Oh man, I need a baby fix!!! Can I come over??????

  2. Pack, now, it can sit awhile if not needed. If you have time, cook for your men, you can always eat it now anyway. Stay busy and wait for the call. I will be praying for you and the babies.

  3. She is home now and things have slowed down. It’s better because she needs to wait about 2 more weeks to really be in the safe zone. I’ll update more as we get closer.
