Oh the pain!

This has been a painful weekend for me. The first thing I do most mornings is make coffee and enjoy a cup while checking email. I took a sip way too quick and burned the side of my tongue. How dumb!

Then later that afternoon, I forgot my sunscreen, doh!, and bug spray so now I have a bit of sunburn on my face and a few bug bites on my ankle. Mosquitoes love me something fierce. I recently read  that using rubbing alcohol on bug bites take away the itch and that has been working. But tonight, it’s bad and I am now using some Benadryl cream.

Then Sunday evening I made pasta with peas for dinner. All was going well, except I was out of fresh garlic. rabbit trail here- It turns out the garlic odor that was so strong in here for about 2 weeks was coming from a head of garlic that went bad. I discovered that yesterday when I was making hummus for a party. Anyway, the pasta was cooking and it was time for the “taste test”. I used orrechiette, which means “little ears or hats”, I have heard of both. They tend to hold in the sauce or the boiling hot water in my case. I now have a burned lip and the front part of my tongue because of the boiling water that was in the pasta. Ouch!!!

Just send me a big band-aid, ice pack, some Benadryl and a thermometer to check the temps of all liquids I am about to consume.  If I didn’t want to finish painting tomorrow, I’d just stay in bed all day and stay safe.

  1. My husband gets eaten alive by bugs too. We heard this year that if you take vitamin B everyday it keeps the bugs away and so far it’s been working like a charm. He’s only been bit once or twice as opposed to not being able to go outside at all after dark. If you can take that type of vitamin, you should give it a try!

  2. Stopping by after reading a comment you left on The Lady Blogger’s FB page! :)

I feel your pain. We have tons of mosquitos, who think I’m an all-you-can-eat buffet. In Mexico, we use rubbing alcohol to relieve the itching. But a little bleach or Vick’s Vaporub is more effective. Hope you get some relief soon!

  3. Girl!!! I have burned my tongue on coffee too many times to count – so I feel your pain!!

When we were living in FL, someone told me to rub Clorox Bleach on bites….. Just a thought. LOL

I hope you have a less eventful day in regard to injuring yourself!!

    Hugs,
