Olives! Olives! Olives!

Oh how do I love olives. My kids love them, my husband loves them, and my grandchildren love them. Who couldn’t love them? Don’t answer that!

I’ve been busy writing menus for my upcoming cooking classes and one thing I notice in a lot of the recipes is the use of olives and/or olive oil. I don’t think I can ever cook without olive oil and almost all my salads require olives of some type. In the directions for an anti-pasti platter, I list not only adding several types of olives but to also drizzle the platter of meats and cheeses with a little olive oil for an added touch.

Ever since I watched David Rocco put a drizzle of olive oil on a plate of fresh pasta with marinara sauce we have done the same. The added olive oil adds that wow factor like a few shavings of fresh Parmesan cheese. I love the various types of olive oil that is available on the market. I have a local shop near me that sells nothing else but olive oil and balsamic vinegar. I’ve gone into this shop in the past for what I affectionately call “oil shots”.

You might be asking yourself why am I talking so much about olives, well I’ll tell you. I’ve been given the honor to promote a company that is all about olives. They are Penna Gourmet Foods. Penna Gourmet Foods is a grower, packer and processor of gourmet olives. I’ve been browsing their website and plan to place an order. Penna Gourmet Foods Fresh Olives are available starting around the middle of September (weather permitting) so my order will have to wait just a few months.

Those olives look delicious. We can’t wait to start tasting the products from Penna Gourmet Foods. I’ll be sure to let you know my thoughts when I make my purchase. If you want to keep up with when the olives are harvested and ready to order for home curing and when the olive oil will be pressed, go ahead and like Penna Gourmet Foods on Facebook. I always love it when I discover a new product that fits with my tastes and likes. There are also a number of recipes on their site including how to cure your own fresh olives at home.

This sponsorship is brought to you by Penna Gourmet Foods who we have partnered with for this promotion.
