Chicken Caesar Sandwiches with Pretzel Buns

This was such a great idea for dinner! I was inspired by a post on Pinterest using a slow cooker for this recipe. I made some adjustments to the original but in the end I’m pretty sure the results were the same-deliciousness! See below the recipe for information about the pretzel buns.

Chicken Caesar Sandwiches

2-3 pounds bone-in chicken breasts, can use boneless

8 ounce bottle of your favorite Caesar dressing

1 cup fresh grated Parmesan cheese

1-2 tsp dried parsley

fresh ground pepper to taste

Shredded Romaine lettuce

Put chicken in a slow cooker with a few cups of water and seasonings of choice. I added dried basil, oregano and parsley. Cook on low 4-6 hours until done. Remove chicken from cooker to a cutting board. Empty water from the cooker. Shred chicken with two forks, save the bones for stock, and return to the cooker. Add the dressing, cheese, parsley and pepper. Stir until combined, turn heat to high and cook additional 30 minutes until flavors are blended and all is heated through.

To serve, cut buns in half, top with chicken then some shredded lettuce and enjoy!

Pretzel Buns

I had a home baking kit from Auntie Ann’s in my pantry. I kept putting off making the pretzels, although I’m not sure why, so when the recipe for the chicken called for slider buns I decided to make my own pretzel buns. I followed the recipe from Auntie Ann’s website for making the kit into the buns. It was so easy. I admit I did not make the buns into the classic pretzel shape, but I did roll them into a circular pattern to achieve the same results.

  1. I own a small Italian restaurant in S Florida and I’ve always looking for something new we can add to our menu and I believe this very different item will fit perfectly on our lunch menu. Thanks for sharing it with the world. Keep up the great work. Who would have though of a pretzel roll? I love it
