I am Michelle, a 40-something 50% Italian chef-wannabe.Basically I am a good cook who is always willing to try new recipes. I have a wonderful husband who enjoys all my cooking and four children who have survived my many experiments over the years. I come from a legacy of an Italian family, dysfunctional may it be, that enjoyed gathering and eating homemade Italian food. We certainly are not a perfect family but I feel that the dinner table is more than just eating, and the kitchen is more than a showpiece of the home. The kitchen and the dinner table are where families bond over life experiences and day-to-day living. It’s where memories can be made, traditions followed or new ones begun.
I now have five grandchildren and hope to be able to pass on the legacy of my Italian heritage to them. One that includes learning how to cook the food of our ancestors, not just eating it. I think we are on a good start as all of my grandchildren love pasta and meatballs. Two of them can polish off a can of black olives in about three minutes flat! Considering they are young, I think that is pretty good. This blog is meant to be fun, a way to learn new things, encourage others to try new recipes and a legacy for my children and grandchildren.
I am also planning to visit Italy, more specifically the hometown of my grandparents. I am saving my money, talking with family members that have been to Italy, and beginning to learn the Italian language. This blog is a combination of so many things but I hope to share my journey to Italy along with the cooking I am learning with my readers. I am far from being an expert on Italian cooking but I am gaining so much knowledge and that is fun to share.
From time to time I am also doing product and/or online store reviews. I would love to test new recipes, read new cookbooks and traveling books along with testing out cookware and kitchen wares.
