I am Michelle, a 40-something 50% Italian wife, mother and grandmother with a passion to cook.I am a self-taught home cook who is always willing to try new recipes. I have a wonderful husband who enjoys all my cooking and four children who have survived my many experiments over the years. I come from the legacy of an Italian-American family who enjoyed gathering and eating homemade Italian food with multiple generations each week at the home of my immigrant Italian grandparents. I feel the dinner table is for more than just eating, and the kitchen is more than a showpiece of the home. The kitchen and the dinner table are where families bond over life experiences and day-to-day living. It’s where memories can be made, traditions followed or new ones begun.
I now have six grandchildren and hope to be able to pass on the legacy of my Italian heritage to them. One that includes learning how to cook the food of our ancestors, not just eating it. I think we are on a good start as all of my grandchildren love pasta and meatballs. Two of them can polish off a can of black olives in about three minutes flat! Considering they are young, I think that is pretty good. This blog is meant to be fun, a way to learn new things, encourage others to try new recipes and a legacy for my children and grandchildren.
Some of my other interests include reading books on Italy, genealogy, and teaching others how to cook. I am currently a cooking instructor at several venues. I also enjoy reviewing products and books which I feel might be beneficial to others and then sharing my opinions with my readers.
